It may not be fair to only give it 4 stars. It is an excellent book that covers the topic thoroughly, but I think it is better for a 13-14 year old. Other reviewers have pointed out that the chapter on sex is advanced for a younger audience. I am ready to discuss sex in general, but feel it is too early (at 10) to discuss anal and oral sex. We thought about tearing those pages out and sharing the book, but have now decided to return and look for another book.
I bought this for my teen and preteen granddaughters. It was one of 4 books that I found while searching for age appropriate books. It was recommended by the American Medical Association. Their parents have been reluctant to give any in depth knowledge to their girls. So, as their grandmother (with their permission), I have taken over. I was a sex education teacher for many years while teaching 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students. They came with misinformation and a thirst for the truth about their bodies. This book was a wonderful start to answer the questions that they have been asking but that remained unanswered. I also encouraged my 13 year old grandson to read his sisters' books and that they would read his, too.
Simply the best source for girls who need/want more information, but don't want to ask mom..Thanks for helping me, as she now asks me questions she was very shy to ask before .
I bought this for my 12 year old daughter. She was reading it non-stop. A lot of this book she’s also learned in SHARE at school but it’s good to have this book so we can talk more about it all. I’m glad I bought it.
Perfect for our daughter! Excellent basic overview of all things puberty. Already own the boys version and got this one. Was not disappointed! Recommend for any blossoming preteen.
Great book once my tween got over her fear of entering this new phase of life. She even has a group of girls who discuss the changes. It helps her to remember that she's not alone and these things are normal.
Great book for an upcoming teen. Talks about everything you need it to. I use it for work in therapy and have found that it's an easy to read guide. I can skip and jump to subjects, depending on what each client needs. Great for hygiene/period issues!
